Australia is Against China in the Sea

This Time Australia is Against China in the Sea

This time, China has a dispute with Australia in the sea. Australia strongly opposes Beijing's move in the South China Sea.

Australia has claimed at the United Nations that China has illegally occupied an island in the South China Sea. The Australian government has sent official documents to the United Nations in this regard.

Australia's permanent mission to the United Nations has rejected Chinese claims to the disputed island. Australia has called China's claim "inconsistent" with international law.

Australia says the Australian government rejects any Chinese claims that are "inconsistent" with the 1972 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Australia also said there was no legal basis for China's claim.

Last week, the Chinese navy encountered an Australian warship in the South China Sea. At that time, the Chinese navy prevented the Australian warship from passing the disputed island. The incident took place during a joint Australian-US-Japanese naval exercise.

The Australian Defense Ministry said it had not entered within 12 nautical miles of the disputed island. However, dealing with foreign warships in this unplanned exercise was handled in a safe and professional manner.

China is expected to make an official statement soon on Australia's disagreement over the waters.
