First Coronavirus Symptoms in North Korea

A lockdown has been imposed in the North Korean border town of Kesang. The country's state-run KCNA news agency reported that a man with corona symptoms had been identified. The North Korean government says this is the first time such a person has been identified.

AFP reports, citing KCNA, that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un held an emergency politburo meeting on Saturday, local time. There has been talk of issuing maximum warnings to prevent coronary infections and implementing a state of emergency. If Covid-19 is caught, the same person will be identified as the first officially declared patient in North Korea. The country's health infrastructure lacks adequate measures to prevent epidemics.

KCNA reports that the man left for South Korea three years ago. He returned on 19 July. He illegally crossed the heavily guarded border between South and North Korea.

However, South Korea has said it has no information on anyone crossing the border.

Pyongyang claims that there are no cases of coronavirus infection in North Korea, but there is no infection in North Korea. The country's borders have also been closed. The man was found in the South Korean border town of Kesang. He has been kept in quarantine due to corona symptoms.

According to KCNA, the situation is dangerous. The North Korean government fears that the suspect could be a disaster for the corona patient. According to AFP, 40 to 60 corona are detected in South Korea every day. Most of them come from other countries. Go Myung-hyun, an analyst at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, said the coronavirus was transmitted from China to North Korea.

He blamed South Korea for the situation and said North Korea was putting pressure on the country.
